About my love for photography
When I was a little girl I flipped the pages in National Geographic and fantasized about the person behind those photos. I wondered what it would be like to travel the world and how to capture it all in a photo. The landscape photos were beautiful but I loved the photos with people more. When I turned thirteen my family all pitched in a bought me my first camera. I took it everywhere I traveled, which back then was only to the country to see grandma. I made her stand by sunflowers, pose by the world’s largest ball of twine (the only cool thing about where she lived) and I happily snapped photos of her. Somewhere along the way I thought I needed to be more realistic about my life and my goals not thinking photography would take me anywhere. I put down my camera, and sold it for a few bucks when the world started going digital. I wonder if that camera still thinks of me the way I think of it. Years later I bought another camera and then I had a daughter and I put that camera down too, but I won’t ever sell it. I think one day photography will come back for me and when that day comes I will be ready. For now here are photos I took many moons ago.
